How the tools work, what they do not do, and where your data lives.
- Do I need an account to use BusinessStartTools?
- No. Every calculator and planner works without an account. Your entries are saved as drafts in your own browser. An account is only needed if you want to save plans to the cloud and open them on another device.
- Where is my data stored?
- By default, only in your browser's local storage on the device you are using. If you create an account and save a plan, that plan is stored in our database against your account and only you can read it.
- Do the calculators use real industry benchmarks or market data?
- No. Every figure shown is either one you entered or a documented calculation applied to what you entered. We do not insert benchmark costs, average revenues, market sizes or industry statistics, because those vary enormously by location and business.
- Does the currency selector convert amounts?
- No. The currency setting changes how amounts are formatted and labelled. No exchange rate is applied and no amount is converted, so the numbers you type are the numbers you see.
- What does the country setting change?
- It decides which setup, registration and compliance items are flagged for you to verify locally, and which currency is suggested. It does not give you legal advice or a definitive list of requirements for your jurisdiction.
- Is the Plan Readiness Review a prediction that my business will succeed?
- No. It measures only how completely you have thought your plan through in these tools. It says nothing about demand, competition, funding eligibility or profitability.
- What does the AI assistant have access to?
- Only a text summary of the plan you have entered in these tools, plus the question you ask. It does not browse the web, research your market or look up legal requirements, and every answer is labelled as an AI suggestion.
- Can I export or print my plan?
- Yes. The startup summary report is formatted for printing, so you can print it or use your browser's 'Save as PDF' option. There are no download buttons that do not actually work.
- How much does it cost?
- The core calculators and planners are free. Paid Pro and Business tiers are described on the pricing page; while checkout is not yet enabled, nothing is charged and no payment details are collected.
- Is this legal, tax or financial advice?
- No. BusinessStartTools is an information and utility platform. Verify legal, tax, licensing and financing matters with the relevant government authority or a qualified professional before making decisions.
- How do I get help?
